Best in Show Fest is a city-wide fundraising event culminating in a free festival celebrating Austin’s fifth year as the nation’s largest no-kill city! & The City of Austin have come together to organize an event celebrating Austin’s fifth year as one of the nation’s largest animal life saving communities!

The event borrows its name and overall theme from the movie Best in Show, adopting a lighthearted quirky tone that keeps Austin weird. The goal of the festival is to raise funds and increase awareness for Austin’s nonprofit animal welfare community and the services it provides. The event begins on April 1st with an online fundraising competition where participants can create individual fundraising pages on Crowdrise. Benefitting nonprofits include Austin Humane Society, Austin Pets Alive, Emancipet and Friends of Austin Animal Center.

The competition will then expand to a family- and pet-friendly festival on May 7th at Austin Animal Center that is free and open to the public. The focal point of the festival will be a dog show featuring our top fundraisers (those who raise $250 or more on their individual pages) and their dogs competing for titles such as Parent Pup Look-A-Like and Best Trick. There will also be a cat video competition for our cat lovers out there!

The festival will also include live entertainment, vendors, activity stations and a chance to get involved with our nonprofit partners.
