Since 1952, the Austin Humane Society (AHS) has been serving the Greater Austin Area as the longest standing no-kill shelter. AHS transforms the lives of animals and the people who love them through life-saving programs that find animals homes, serve animals and people in times of crisis, prevent future homelessness through spay and neuter, and engage the community to be a part of the solution. Together with our community partners we unleash hope for over 11,000 animals each year, but we could not do it without you!
AHS volunteers donate over 100,000 hours annually to ensure our animals have the care and love they need each and every day. We offer year-round individual and group opportunities to engage with our animals while supporting their emotional and physical needs. Now is your opportunity to join our pack! We will work with you to create a custom and flexible partnership plan to help improve the lives of our animals and those who love them.
This is your chance to get a hands-on experience at the Austin Humane Society! Through our Service Day program, we can accommodate groups up to 20 volunteers per session. Service days are available Tuesday – Thursday for a recommended time of 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Each 3-hour Service Day experience can be customized for your group and can include a behind-the-scenes tour, shelter improvement tasks, toy-making experience, and animal interactions.
Service Days should be scheduled at least one month in advance and will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. The donation fee for groups up to 10 people is $300 and groups 10-20 is $750. Please email email@example.com to schedule or for more information.
Unable to visit the shelter during the weekday? With our Offsite Activities, we will bring the adorable animal experience to you! Together we’ll take a closer look at the lifesaving work we do each day at AHS, so you can truly see how your partnership impacts our animals and strengthens our current initiatives.
Through our Offsite Activities, we can accommodate groups of all sizes. We will travel to your group’s business or preferred location and the activity can be held inside or outdoors. Sessions are available Tuesday – Friday for a recommended 90 minutes, but can be extended to up to three hours upon request. Each Offsite Activity will be led by an AHS team member. The experience can be customized for your group and can include an adoptable animal, toy- making experience, or hands-on service project!

Looking for a competitive way to give back that includes the whole team? AHS has partnered with the online platform Just Giving to create an online, peer-to-peer fundraising experience for groups or individuals who want to raise money to ensure each animal that walks through our doors gets the second chance they deserve.
Getting started is easy: Our team will set up your page and help you set your goal by selecting one of our donor pro- gram levels below, or you can choose your own amount.
Ready to get started? You can set up your page right now by visiting Just Giving to get started. Personalize your page, select a title, choose your goal and then search for “Austin Humane Society” to select your charity. Once you’re confirmed, share your page with your family, friends, and colleagues and work towards a special cause that you’re passionate about today!
Looking for an easy way to support AHS? Consider organizing a Donation Drive with your office or group, and collect items needed for our day-to-day operations. Donation Drives are free, easy to launch, and 100% of your donations will benefit the animals of the Austin Humane Society!
Each season at AHS brings a new set of needs for our shelter, so before you get started, we’ll send you our most up-to-date wish list of items. We’ve also put together a handy list of items we need year-round, including bedding, collars, leashes, toys and towels. We will also provide your group with one general AHS Donation Drive flier and social media graphic to help spread the word about your Donation Drive.
If you’d like to take your fundraising efforts to the next level, you can pair your Donation Drive with an Offsite Activity. During the activity, your group will put together kits for our dogs and cats that are heading off to foster care or have been recently adopted. An AHS team member will join you at your preferred location to help, and they’ll bring along a furry friend, too!
Want to participate from the comfort of your own home or office? We can bring the adorable animal experience to you virtually!
Through our unique virtual activities, we can accommodate groups of all sizes. Sessions are available Tuesday-Friday for a recommended 45-90 minutes. This experience can be customized to fit your group’s needs, and can include a be- hind-the-scenes tour, toy-making experience, kitten or puppy yoga, trivia, or even a happy hour! All of our virtual activities will also include a meet-and-greet with some of the adopt- able animals of AHS.
Virtual Activities should be scheduled at least three weeks in advance and will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. The suggested donation for virtual activities is flexible!
Your team will enjoy sips and tricks while participating in a virtual scavenger hunt along the way. The event can also include a live emcee, pet costume contest, and adoptable animals. The starting donation fee for Ales for Tales is $300.
In-Kind Donation of Services: Caring for more than 11,000 animals a year means we go through a lot of stuff: food, bowls, toys, blankets, towels, kitty litter, etc. But we also need skilled professional support in the following fields: data software, event production services, website maintenance, IT support, janitorial services, social media, PR and more! Consider using your company’s skills to impact AHS through a special project or year-round collaboration.
Rainy Day Fund for Medical Appeals: Over the past several years, AHS has seen a dramatic increase in the number of animals coming to us with costly medical, surgical, and specialty needs. Each week, AHS transfers in animals that have emergency medical needs that are a result of congenital disease, neglect, and/or abuse. At times, care for these animals can cost thousands of dollars, but almost always results in a true second chance for the animal. Help raise funds and awareness for these animals with a gift of $2,500+ for a match to incentivize our donors to step-up and donate to make those second chances a reality.
Amplify ATX: Each spring, join thousands of individuals as they raise more than $10 million in 24 hours. Each year, AHS sets a new goal to participate in this annual day of giving. Sponsor AHS’ fundraising day and help us reach our goal by offering a matching gift, hosting an event, or creating a company fundraising page.
#GivingTuesday: Each Tuesday after Thanksgiving, we join organizations around the globe in celebrating Giving Tuesday. Take an opportunity to give back to the animals at AHS prior to the holiday season by hosting your very own fund- raising effort on platforms like Facebook or Just Giving (see above).
