Who We Are

The Austin Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supported fully by individuals and business in our community and strong partnerships with other animal service organizations and animal welfare alliances. We receive no funding from local, state, or national entities.

Formed in 1952, the AHS has been dedicated to re-homing orphaned cats and dogs, and educating our community about responsible pet ownership through spaying and neutering. Each year, AHS helps place more than 3,000 dogs and cats in permanent, loving homes. We receive more than 32,000 visitors each year.

Our dedicated Board of Directors, staff, and more than 600 volunteers work to provide the best care and companionship to every animal that comes through our doors.
